The idea is to provide extra fuel only under boost when need is higher. To run larger injectors, you would have to have one that can lower base fuel pressure or have a separate adjustable fuel pressure regulator. Bell Engineering makes one, Vortech makes one, and there are probably others. I used to run rising rate fuel pressure regulators, also known as FMUs, on other cars. Yes ive searched ive read all different kinds of threads i just wanted too get more recent info.Ĭome on oldschoolers i know theres some gear heads on here who remember builds like this who can chime in on what they feel about an fmu unit with bigger injectors Please read thread first im not trying to get into a huge tuning and higher boost and this is better and thats more efficient and so on im just trying to get a opinion and some oldschool answers on if people and how they did there setups and if it worked and so on. As we all know not everyone can afford crazy 1000 dollar tuning packages I know im gonna get flamed and all the die hard rich bmw people are gonna talk shit but im just wondering if anyone has done this recently for a entry level basic as cheap as possible kit? Once running they upgraded as funds were available. I know its way cheap budget and there are safer ways and so on but i know back in the day with older bmw and older vw projects people would build junkyard turbo set ups with fmu's and got the car running on 5-6 pounds. I know there are alot of new advancements in the tuning world but what happened too the old school low boost budget turbo builds running bigger injectors and an FMU do people still do these?
